Dr May Poon completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (concentration in personality development and clinical process) from the California State University, East Bay (Hayward), Master of Arts degree in Social Psychology from the San Francisco State University, and Doctor of Education degree (Educational Psychology) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

 

Prior to joining this institution in 2005, Dr Poon worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Education Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University for five years. Her job duties ranged from leading tutorials for undergraduate subjects like Principles of Psychology, Counseling Theories and Practice, Social Psychology to supporting academic programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, and master levels. Furthermore, she was engaged in various departmental tasks such as continuous professional development for teachers, students' placement, quality assurance, new programme development, admission, and marketing.

 

Currently, Dr Poon teaches subjects including Introduction to Psychology and Human Behaviour and Social Environment. Her academic interests encompass adventure education, interpersonal processes, and political psychology.
