Dr Carol Webster received her PhD from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Working within the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics under the supervision of Associate Professor David G. Butt, Carol investigated Cormac McCarthy's use of dramatic dialogue to foreground the dilemma faced by one who is caught between opposing voices of Gospel and anti-Gospel. The title of her dissertation is "The Functions of a Second Order of Symbolic Articulation: Linguistic Stylistics and Dialogue in The Sunset Limited of Cormac McCarthy".
She previously completed her BA (Hons) in English Studies for the Professions and MA in English Studies for the Professions (English Language Studies) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She then continued her studies at Macquarie University, completing her Master of Research before progressing to her PhD study.
