Teaching and Scholarly Interests: Design; Semiotics
Dr Vera Sun obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Graphic Design from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Postgraduate Diploma in Education from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, both of which grounded her in design and education. In her stay in London for 11 years, she practiced design and obtained her Masters of Arts in Graphic Design from the London College of Communication of the University of the Arts London. While serving as a lecturer at this institution, she further obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Research from Lancaster University, UK. Her research interests lie in design education and semiotics.
In terms of design practice, Dr Sun boasts a wealth of experience in areas such as graphic design, plush toy design, illustration, and website design, which helped her reflect upon the link between theory and practice.
