Dr Mariana Ye received her Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics from City University of Hong Kong. Under the supervision of Professor Meichun Liu, she investigated the form-meaning mapping referential relations encoded in Chinese noun phrases in contrast to English nominals under the construction-based functional approach. Dr Ye previously obtained two Master of Arts degrees respectively in Language Studies (specialising in General Linguistics) and Translation and Bilingual Communication. She was awarded a bachelor’s degree in English with a specialisation in Language Teaching, where she started to devote herself to the language education profession.
Prior to joining the Division of Languages and Communication, Dr Ye was a postdoctoral fellow and project manager at City University of Hong Kong. She is interested in conducting language-oriented, theoretically-motivated, and empirically-validated research. She had published one SSCI-indexed journal and two peer-reviewed book chapters which were published by Springer and the Beijing Commercial Press.
